An Oil Change Is How Much?
Sometimes we get customers that ask us how much our oil changes are.
The average price for a standard oil change can range from $40 to $45.
A lot more cars and trucks are using more than the standard 4-5 quarts of oil and some European cars take as much as 9 quarts of specialized oil.
As you can see, not all oil changes are equal.
Another thing to think about is the price of oil per barrel. Not so long ago in 2012 crude oil hit $125 per barrel. This significantly affects the price per quart of oil so prices have to go up to adjust. In September of this year oil was still at $115 per barrel but lately it has dropped significantly. It is now just over $53 per barrel. It takes some time for those prices to trickle down to the end users, but you can be assured, if our cost drops, so will the price of an oil change.
The price of oil is not the only thing to consider. If you are looking for a shop to drain your engine oil, install a new filter, and refill your engine, and get you out the door, then you're at the wrong place. When we do an oil change, we do those things as well as checking all fluid levels, tire pressures, inspecting steering/suspension components and brake components that are easily observed, plus giving you recommendations of any upcoming maintenance needs. A car that is maintained is less likely to break down on you.
When shopping for an oil change or any other vehicle maintenance, price isn't always the best gauge. Trust the shop you're at to provide you with the best service. And that always is a good value!
