Better Brake Job
Think all brake jobs are the same? Think again. At Brookhaven Automotive we do a better brake job. Some shops just install new brake pads and call that a brake job. Sometimes you can do this, but, if the rotor has scoring or is warped, it is best to install new rotors.
At Brookhaven Automotive, we remove all of the old parts and clean the mating surfaces of rust so that the rotor sits flat.
We also apply an anti-seize compound to prevent rust from forming.
We clean and line the areas where the brake pads touch the caliper so that they continue to slide freely. We clean the rotors thoroughly to remove all grease and oils and install everything, then torque the wheels to factory specifications.
If the brake fluid shows high moisture content, we flush it. By doing a brake job this way, we ensure the brake pads and rotors work together in the most optimal way for the life of both components, assuring safe braking.
When do you know you need new brakes? Here are some possible indications:
Seeing less than 1/8 inch of brake pad when you look through the spaces between your wheel's spokes from the outside.
Regularly hearing a high-pitched screeching sound that goes away when you press on your brakes.
Hearing a grinding or growling sound when you press on your brakes.
If your vehicle pulls to one side when braking.
If your brake pedal pulsates or vibrates.
By keeping your brakes properly serviced and in good working order, you can prevent costly repairs in the future, and, most importantly, help you avoid an accident.
